Dr Esther Dijkstra

EcoAgriLogic is headed by Dr Esther Dijkstra.
A certified environmental consultant, Esther has over 20 years of experience in contaminated land and sustainable solutions to support human health and the environment.
She has an extensive track record in contaminated site investigations, risk assessments, remediations, and environmental monitoring. She values a pragmatic approach when seeking the best possible outcome to protect the environment.
Originally from the Netherlands and having completed a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences, she emigrated to Aotearoa in 1997.
Esther is also a trained facilitator and enjoys working collaboratively with community groups to achieve the best possible environmental solutions. She sees the community as the driving force behind making the decisions for successful environmental outcomes.
Experience
Esther was a member of the Ruamāhanga Whaitua Committee, a community-led committee tasked with gathering the visions and values of the people in the Ruamāhanga catchment and making recommendations for water quality and allocation. Recently, she was appointed to the Wairarapa Moana Statutory Board.
Esther has managed regional and national projects for the agricultural sector funded by MPI’s Sustainable Farming Fund and DairyNZ. Locally, Esther has been working with the Mangāterere Restoration Society and was an Enviroschools facilitator.
Esther’s work with Wairarapa Pūkaha to Kawakawa Trust presents a huge opportunity for communities to work together positively for the environment, by solving issues that matter and pulling together the threads of diverse experiences and networks to get things done.
In 2021, Esther was presented with the Charles Rooking Carter Environmental and Sustainability Award at a ceremony in Carterton.
